Curriculum Vitae
Psychological health is a core component of quality of life and vital to engagement in meaningful activities and relationships.  Illness and aging are often associated with high distress levels in patients and their caregivers that negatively impact physical health and quality of life.  Our research program examines psychological distress and illness and treatment understanding in older adult with cancer and patients with advanced cancer and their caregivers.  We translate these findings into psychosocial interventions that provide resources and support in the context of illness and aging, evaluate the impact of these interventions on patient and caregiver quality of life and receipt of goal-concordant care, and examine strategies for disseminating these interventions across populations and care settings.
Our Mission:

To improve the quality of life of older adults and medically ill patients and their families.

Our Values:
  • Rigorous and ethical research processes
  • Respect for the value and well-being of each patient and caregiver
  • Open and respectful communication of ideas
  • Creative questioning
